CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles (18-10, 12-2 MEC) took the first two wins in a four games series against the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats (14-17, 7-7 MEC) in MEC play on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Junior
Jeff Wong, got his first save out in relief, giving up one run on just one hits as he pitched the final inning of the game. Austin Henrich picked up his third win of the season and after pitching 6.2 innings, only giving up four hits and retiring 20 of 31 batters.
Jack Brunetti had the biggest hit of the game for the Golden Eagles, with a 2-RBI single to centerfield. The hit gave UC the early 2-0 lead as Colby Johnson and Austin Hathaway scored in the top of the first.
Brice Arrington led UC from the plate going 3-for-4, while knocking in two runs for the Golden Eagles. Jesse Elliot drove in a pair of runs going 2-for-3 with a single that knocked in Brice Arrington in the fourth to seal the 5-0 for UC.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, the Bobcats scored as two batters were hit bringing the Bobcats within three runs of the Golden Eagles. Forbrick singled to left field in the seventh driving in the Bobcats final run of the game.
Maiolo got the nod for the Bobcats, taking his fourth loss of the year, giving up 9 hits in 5.2 innings pitched.
GAME 2:
Charleston's starting pitcher
Brandon Harris was dominant from for UC, retiring 19 batters, and allowing only five hits.
Austin Hathaway, and Colby Johnson led the Golden Eagles at the plate, finishing with three hits, and four RBI between them.
Brice Arrington knocked in two runs for the Golden Eagles on is lone hit of the game.
Just as in the first game, the Golden Eagles jumped ahead to a 4-0 lead by the top of the top of the first.
Colby Johnson came up big for the Golden Eagles with a grand slam in the top of the fourth to take the 9-0 lead.
Charleston tacked on one more run in the sixth to increase the lead to 10-0. Braxton Boddorf singled to score Jordan Bailey from third.
The Bobcats starter Roe was retired after 3.0 innings of work, allowing seven runs (seven earned) on five hits while also walking two batters.

The Golden Eagles take on the Bobcats in the final two games of the weekend series tomorrow starting at 1:00 p.m.
