CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston baseball (23-11, 16-2 MEC) took two victories from the Glenville State Pioneers (10-24, 5-13 MEC0 on Saturday in two games of a four-game series in MEC south action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Wilkinson picked up the loss for the Pioneers after four innings on the mound. Wilkinson allowed seven hits and eight runs to score before handing the ball off to Williams and final Harmon to close for Glenville.
Junior outfielder Colby Johnson led the Golden Eagles offense, going 3-for-3 from the plate with a season high six RBI and three runs scored. Drew Hefner started off his five RBI performance with a base clearing triple that gave the Golden Eagles the 5-1 lead in the bottom of the first.
After going down 1-0 on a Pioneer homerun in the top of the first, the Golden Eagles took a 6-1 lead in the first inning. The Pioneers brought the score within two runs by the bottom of the third after capitalizing on a series of UC fielding errors bringing the score to 6-4. Johnson tacked on two runs with a homer to left field in the bottom of the fourth for a 8-4 lead.
The fifth inning once again allowed the Pioneers to get within reaching distance of the Golden Eagles but through the course of the fifth and sixths innings that Golden Eagles tacked on eleven additional runs to take the 17-6 victory.
Four other Golden Eagles combined for five runs in the victory.
Austin Henrich tacked on win number five of the season after 4.2 innings. Henrich handed the ball off the Jeffery Wong in the bottom of the fifth who earned just his second save of the year.
GAME 2:
Austin Hathaway and Hayden Cartt each tallied two RBI in the thrilling 6-5 victory in game two.
Down 2-0 in the third inning Cartt doubled to left center giving Morello and Johnson the go-ahead runs for the 3-2 lead.
The Pioneers made things interesting taking the 5-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning. With two outs the Golden Eagles put Elliot and Bailey on base. Senior DH Austin Hathaway knocked in his two runs on a single to right field that tied the game up 5-5.
The Pioneers were unable to score in the top of the seventh, and with two outs and extra innings on the line, senior right fielder, Brice Arrington stole third, and scored on an error by the Glenville third basemen to take the 6-5 victory.

The Golden Eagles are back at Triana Field to complete the four-game series against the Pioneers on Monday. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
