CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Golden Eagle men's tennis team notched a crucial Atlantic Region win over the No. 8 ranked Shaw University Bears, blanking the visitors 6-0 at the Charleston Tennis Club on Sunday afternoon.
UC, playing without their No. 1 player Ben Lakeman, didn't have any trouble against the Bears jumping out to a 1-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles courts.  Alek Gracin moved into the top spot and was convincing in his singles win, 6-3, 6-1, to put Charleston ahead 2-0 with the first to finish in singles play.  Just a few moments later Adam Malouf put Charleston one court away from clinching after grinding out a straight set win at No. 5 singles, 7-5, 6-3.  Tom Andrews provided the knockout blow of the Bears at No. 3 singles, fighinting through a tough 7-5 first set before cruising to a 6-1 victory in the second.
