CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston squeaked by the Salem Tigers 6-5 in non-conference action Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jones RBI in the bottom of the ninth brought the Tigers within a run of the visiting Golden Eagles, but it was Austin Hathaway's two-RBI single in the top of the eight that gave the Golden Eagles the 6-4 lead over Salem.
Robert Fultineer earned win number one of the season after just 0.2 innings of work in relief for Svedhem.
Jordan Peck closed for the UC, pitching the final inning, and earning his first save of the year.
Hayden Cartt and Austin Hathaway each tallied two hits and combined for all six of the Golden Eagles RBI. Three other Golden Eagles each notched a hit in the win.
Charleston struggled offensively from the jump as the Tigers took a 3-0 lead after five innings.
Sophomore left fielder, Hayden Cartt hit a 3-run homer in the top of the sixth to tie the game up.
After the seventh the two teams were deadlocked at four runs each before Hathaway's 2-RBI single to give UC the edge.
McNellis took the loss for the tigers after an inning of work in relief.
