WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. -- Golden Eagle men's tennis extended their win streak to four matches after blanking West Liberty University, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon on the Hilltopper campus.
In a matchup between the No. 5 and No. 6 ranked teams in the Atlantic Region, Charleston made easy work of the Toppers to improve to 11-7 overall and 5-1 in Mountain East Conference play.
Charleston captured the doubles point after winning a pair of courts at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take the 1-0 lead over the West Liberty heading to singles. Jason Prince at No. 5 singles dealt West Liberty's Akira Kawabata a thrashing, winning 6-0, 6-0 to put Charleston up 2-0. Adam Malouf was next off the court for the Golden Eagles at No. 6 with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory over Nash Morris to get Charleston one court away from clinching. Alek Gracin handed the Toppers their final blow, securing the match for Charleston after defeating Joris Gravoulet at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
UC went on to finish off the Hilltoppers by taking the three remaining courts to leave West Liberty with a 7-0 decisive win over the regionally ranked MEC foe.
Charleston closes out their regular next weekend with trips to Shepherd University on Saturday followed by a Sunday matchup with West Chester.
