Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles (20-10, 14-2 MEC) 10-game win streak game to an end as UC split with the Alderson Broaddus Battlers (12-21, 10-8 GMAC) in Tuesday Non-Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Jordan Peck picked up the loss has the closer for the Golden Eagles, after only allowing two runs scored in his one inning on the mound.  

Colby Johnson knocked in two runs going 1-for-4 from the plate to lead UC. Jordan Bailey and Drew Hefner each tallied two hits, while Gianfranco crossed the plate to score twice for Charleston.
 
Charleston scored first on a ground out by Austin Hathaway that gave Jordan Bailey the go ahead run, just before Colby Johnson homered to left field to give UC the 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
 
The Battlers answered in the bottom of the first, but the Golden Eagles knocked in a pair of runs in the top of the second to maintain their lead with a score or 4-1.
 
In the bottom of the fourth the battlers scored three runs to tie the game up 4-4.
 
The Golden Eagles offense surged in the top of the fifth inning as Arrington, Hefner, and Bailey recorded RBI to take the 7-4 lead. Morello then homered to left field for the 8-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth.
 
The Battlers tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh, and an error by the Golden Eagles gave them the 9-8 victory to end the game.
 
Massad picked up the victory for the Battlers after closing in the final inning.
 
GAME 2:
Hunter Townsend picked up the win for UC in game two after 3.1 innings pitched. Kaleb Stowe came in for relief only pitching 1.2 innings before Joakim Svedhem closed for UC.
 
Hayden Cartt led the Golden Eagles going 2-for-2 with three RBI while Jordan Bailey went 2-for-4, with two RBI, and two runs scored. Austin Hathaway tallied two RBI for the Golden Eagles, and scored one run in the victory.


Jack Brunetti reached on an error in the top of the first allowing Austin Hathaway to score. Cartt and Bailey nailed back-to-back homeruns to bring the score to 3-0 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
 
Charleston's offense continued to dominate as UC held a 9-1 lead by the bottom of the third. The Battlers scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to bring the score to 9-4


Four runs scored by the Golden Eagles in the top of the fourth allowed them to boast a 13-4 lead with Cartt's tripled sending two runs home. A couple of wild pitches and a walk allowed the final runs to score for the Battlers in the bottom of the fourth, with the Golden Eagles still holding a 13-8 lead.
 
Sam McKown sealed the win for UC with a SAC fly that gave Jesse Elliot the score in the top of the sixth.
 
Cook to his fourth loss of the season for AB after only seeing two innings on the mound.

NEXT UP
The Golden Eagles will host the Glenville State Pioneers on April 13-14. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
