CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Based on his performance on the field, and in the classroom this season, Senior second basemen, Gianfranco Morello has earned first-team CoSida Academic All-District honors for the 2019 season.
Morello has earned First Team All-MEC honors, and can now add Academic All-District to his list of accomplishments.
A native of Toronto, Morello holds a .356 batting average, tallied 17 doubles, three triples, and three home runs this season, while scoring 44 runs and stealing 24 bases, making him the career leader for the Golde Eagles.
In the classroom, Morello holds an impressive 3.9 GPA while majoring in political science. The senior is one of only three MEC student athletes to earn the distinction this spring.
Morello is now eligible to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American, which will be announced June 6.
