BLACKSBURG, Va. -- University of Charleston's men's tennis season came to a close Saturday evening after falling to West Virginia Wesleyan College, 4-2, in the NCAA Men's Tennis Atlantic Regional opening round at the Burrow-Burleson Tennis Center.
It marked the third time this season that the Golden Eagles have fallen to the nationally ranked Bobcats. Â Charleston finishes the season with an overall record of 14-9.
UC started the afternoon strong capturing the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, looking to pull the upset of the Bobcats.  Unfortunately, the Charleston lead didn't last long as Wesleyan earned the first three singles courts with wins at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.  UC got a point back from Ben Lakeman's win at No. 1 to pull the Golden Eagles within a point at 3-2.  Alek Gracin battled the Bobcats' Carlos Dodero at No. 2 singles but up short in the three-set thriller as West Virginia Wesleyan clinched the victory over Charleston.
