Golden Eagles set to Hit the Road to take on Blue Knights

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Football team is set to hit the road on Thursday to take on the Urbana Blue Knights for their second straight Thursday night game of the season.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a big opening week, downing the Fairmont State Falcons who at the time, were ranked No. 25. MEC Offensive player of the week Brant Grisel threw for 367 yards, breaking the UC single game pass record in the effort.

OPENING KICK: This will be the eighth-straight meeting of the two programs. The Blue Knights lead the series 5-3, claiming victories in 2017 and 2018.
 
THE OPPOSITION: The Blue Knights blew through the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats 43-14 to open the season last week. After a hot start, injuries derailed the 2018 season. UU recorded its best D2 era record through the first five games (4-1),but lost five straight before closing with a road win. UU ended up finishing 5-6 (4-6 MEC) for the second straight year. Overall, the Blue Knights ranked sixth in the MEC in scoring defense (26.9), 10th in scoring offense (21.1 PPG) and 10th in turnover margin (-12).
 
IN A PINCH: The last two meetings between the teams were determined by fourth quarter efforts. In 2017 the Golden Eagles posted a fourth quarter comeback to only lose by four points, while in 2018 a fourth quarter touchdown from the blue knights boosted Urbana over the Golden Eagles 20-14.
