CHARLESTON, W. Va, -- The Golden Eagles are hosting the MEC/PSAC Crossover Tournament this weekend. They played the first two games of the four-game tournament today.
 
UC opened up squaring off against Slippery Rock University. The Rock entered the game with a record of 2-1, while the Golden Eagles entered with a record of 1-3.
 
Slippery Rock came out firing in the first set of the match, taking the set by a score of 25-18.
 
Charleston then came back with a lot of momentum to rattle off three set ins in a row to finish the game. UC won in four sets by a score of three sets to one.
 
The Golden Eagles were back on the court at 7:00 p.m. to take on the Shepherd University. They carried over a lot of momentum from the first game, winning the first set of the match 25-23 in a heated battle.
 
Shepherd answered back by winning the next two sets. In the fourth set, Charleston battled the whole way pulling out a 25-23 set win to push the game to the fifth set.
 
Despite putting up a great fight, the Golden Eagles fell in the final set of the game by a score of 16-13.
 
The final two games of the tournament will be played tomorrow with games against Mercyhurst University at 1:00 p.m. and Shippensburg University at 7:00 p.m.
