LOUISEVILLE, KY – The Golden Eagles wrapped up the Louisville Kickoff yesterday against Truman State and Cedarville University. UC finished 0-2 on the day dropping all four games of the tournament this weekend.
Charleston lost the first game by a score of 3-1. They could not put together much, as they lost the first set 25-17, won the second set 25-20, and lost the last two sets by scores of 25-10 and 25-16.
It was more of the same in the second game as the Golden Eagles were unable to take any of the sets from Cedarville losing 25-18, 25-20 and 25-17.
Maybe a tournament to forget for the team but not for senior middle blocker
Janeese VerVelde. She went on her way to earn a spot in the Bellarmine Classic All-Tournament team.
In the first game of the tournament, she came out firing, racking up 16 kills accompanied by four blocks. In the second game against Bellarmine, she tallied 8 more kills and a serving ace. In the last two games she was able to add four more aces to her total and 6 more kills. Her performance did not go unnoticed, as it earned her a spot in the All-Tournament team.
