HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles played the Tigers tough in the first set. They had a total of 12 kills on 31 total attempts while the Tigers had only nine kills on 26 attempts. Charleston seemed to be coming out hot as they led the Tigers 13-11 in the middle of the set. Princeton would make it interesting as they strung four points together to make the score 15-13. Both teams took turns trading off points making it a one-point game at a score of Princeton 20 and UC 19. Though each team seemed to be trading blows, Princeton would hang on, in the end, to take the set by a score of 25-22.
In the second set, Princeton got out to an early lead over the Golden Eagles. Charleston battled Princeton in the early stages of the set not allowing them to get more than three points ahead of them through the middle of the second set. UC was able to knot the game up at 11 all but could not seem to keep the momentum together as Princeton rallied together and were able to get on a roll helping them to pull away in the set. The Tigers took the second set from the Golden Eagles by a score of 25-19. Princeton had eight more kills on 21 total attacks giving them a hitting percentage of .238 while Charleston had 10 kills, on 25 total attempts and had 10 attacking errors in the set to boot.
Attacking errors seemed to be the continued theme in the third set for the Golden Eagles as they added nine more to their total on the day. UC had 14 kills on 30 total attempts while Princeton had 11 kills on 28 attempts allowing six attacking errors. The Tigers fell behind the Golden Eagles early on in the set by a score of 5-4, but not long after regained the lead and did not look back. The Tigers took the set by a score of 25-22 which ended the match.
