CHARLESTON, W. Va.— UC was back at home again tonight as they took on Erskine College who played their first game of the season. Charleston went on to take their first win of the season over the Flying Fleet as they took the match by a score of 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
Charleston came out hot in the first set as they were able to rattle off 14 kills on 29 attempts giving them a .241 hitting percentage. Erskine was only able to put together seven kills with a .148 hitting percentage. Despite giving up seven attacking errors, UC went on to win the first set of the match by a score of 25-17.
 
In the second set, the Flying Fleet were able to come back after dropping the first set. They were able to put up 14 kills with a .500 hitting percentage and only allowed two attacking errors. They had two blocks and two aces in the set as well. The Golden Eagles put up 11 kills with a .375 hitting percentage as well as one block and four aces. UC trailed most of the set but were able to bring it back to a close game but could ultimately not hang on as Erskine took the set by a score of 25-23. 
 
UC took back momentum in the third set by adding 13 more kills to the night while posting a .440 hitting percentage. They were also able to tally three more aces and three blocks to their total on the night as well. The Flying Fleet had eight kills in the set accompanied by a .182 hitting percentage and four attacking errors. They had one ace and no blocks during the set. Charleston went on to make it a 2-1 game as they took the set from Erskine by a score of 25-16.
 
Charleston was able to close out the game in the fourth set. They had 15 kills with a .448 hitting percentage and three aces in the set. Erskine could only manage to put together five kills on 19 total attempts. Charleston was able to take the set by a score of 25-17 and go home with a win.
 
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Sophomore Lachlan Bray had 15 kills, one assist, one ace and two digs on the night. Sophomore Diego Villafane was able to record 40 assists. Freshman Jake Vorburger had 10 kills, two aces, two block assists and seven digs on the night.
