UC Falls To Limestone in a 3-2 Match

CHARLESTON, W. Va.— Charleston came into the game tonight against Limestone College coming off of their first win of the season against Erskine College. The Golden Eagles could not make it two games in a row though as the Saints took the match by a score of 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
In the first set, Charleston was able to get off 10 kills on 31 attempts along with a .097 hitting percentage. The Saints had eight kills in the set on 22 total attempts posting a .182 hitting percentage. They were also able to record four blocks as well. UC gave up seven attacking errors and seven service errors which was the deciding factor in the set as they fell to Limestone by a score of 25-20. 

Charleston was able to even the score at 1-1 in the second set as they came back with 13 kills on 26 total attacks giving them a .423 hitting percentage. They also had two aces and two blocks in the set. Limestone had seven kills on 26 total attacks tallying a .077 hitting percentage. Charleston was able to go on and win the set by a score of 25-16. 

Limestone came back in the third set to pull ahead 2-1 over the Golden Eagles. UC had 10 kills on 32 attempts posting a .031 hitting percentage. They also committed nine attacking errors and three service errors. Limestone also had 10 kills in the set on 28 total attempts putting together r a .250 hitting percentage. They had four blocks and one ace in the set. The Saints went on to take the set 25-17 over UC. 

UC was able to knot the game up at 2-2 in the fourth set. The Golden Eagles had 12 kills on 20 attempts giving them a .450 hitting percentage. They also managed to put together three blocks and three aces. Limestone had six kills on 26 total attempts with seven attacking errors giving them a -.038 hitting percentage. UC went on to take the set 25-14 pushing the game into the fifth and final set of the match.  

UC could not hang on in the fifth set. They had five kills on 20 attempts with five attacking errors. The Saints had six kills, no attacking errors and three blocks in the set. Limestone would hang on to take the set 15-10 and put the game away.


NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Sophomore Lachlan Bray tallied 14 kills, five aces and six digs. Freshman Andrew Klein had eight kills and 10 digs in the match. Junior Ian Barker had seven kills and six digs in the match. 

UP NEXT
The Golden Eagles will be on the road next Friday as they will take on Loyola University Chicago.
