HONOLULU, HI – The University of Charleston men's volleyball team opened up their season last night as they took on No. 1 ranked team in the nation Hawaii University where the Golden Eagles fell 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Charleston held their own in the first set against the Rainbow Warriors as they tallied eight kills on 22 total attacks giving them a .227 hitting percentage. Hawaii recorded a total of 12 kills in the set accompanied by a .333 hitting percentage as the Rainbow Warriors went on to take the set by a score of 25-19.
Hawaii kept rolling in the second set as they recorded 10 kills on 15 total attacks with only three errors, While Charleston had 10 kills on 24 total attacks accompanied by six errors. Hawaii went on to take the second set by a score of 25-16.
The Rainbow Warriors closed out the game by taking the third set by a score of 25-16. They added 14 more kills to give them 49 total kills on the night. UC had a total of 11 kills in the final set of the night. They recorded 29 total kills, 12 errors and a .246 hitting percentage as a team to round out the match.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Junior Max Senica led the charge for the Golden Eagles as he was able to contribute 9 kills with a .333 hitting percentage. Senior Adriel Roberts had two block assists in the game as well as three kills. Sophomore Diego Villafane had 26 assists out of the setter position last night as well.
