UC Drops Game Two Against No. 1 Ranked Hawaii University

HONOLULU, HI – The Golden Eagles took on the Rainbow Warrior for the second match in a row last night as they fell to No. 1 ranked Hawaii 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
In the first set of the match, both teams seemed to play equally in terms of offense. Both teams were able to record 12 kills in the set. Charleston had three attacking errors and posted a .429 hitting percentage while Hawaii had four attacking errors with a .381 hitting percentage. Despite the even play from both teams, the Rainbow Warriors were able to take the set by a score of 25-18.

UC was not able to keep up with the Rainbow Warriors on offense in the second set as they were able to record 16 kills accompanied by a .429 hitting percentage. The Golden Eagles could only manage to get off eight kills and a .069 hitting percentage. Hawaii went on to take the second set by a score of 25-16.

Service errors were the theme for UC in the third and final set of the match. They had seven kills but had 10 service errors which ultimately put them away in the end. Hawaii went on to take the set by a score of 25-17.


NOTABLE PERFORMANCES 
Freshman Jake Vorburger had his first career double-digit kill game as he recorded 11 in the match, sophomore Diego Villafane had 23 assists and senior Adriel Roberts was able to record his 300th career kill and 200th career block during the game joining Eugene Stuart as the only two Golden Eagles in program history to record 200 or more career blocks.


UP NEXT 
The Golden Eagles' next game will be their home opener on Friday, Jan. 10 as they will take on Princeton University.
