How it Happened
Redshirt Senior Jeffrey Wong notched his first win of the 2020 season, going 4.1 innings deep before being relieved by Sophomore, Austin Dzierwa. Wong surrendered only 1 hit and 2 BB which accounted for 1 ER allowed.
The Golden Eagles offense was on a mission today and came out of the ballgame with an early 5-0 lead after 1. The attack was highlighted by a homer off the bat of Senior, Nick Wilson.
Alderson Broaddus put 2 runs on the board in the third off a UC fielding error as well as a triple down the rightfield line.
The Golden Eagles took complete control of the ballgame in the bottom of the third by adding 10 runs to their total, extending their lead, 15-2. The offensive barrage was highlighted by a 2 RBI-Double from Eric Chartier (First collegiate hit), a 3 RBI homerun by Jordan Bailey, and a towering grand slam from Justin Robles over leftfield.
The ballgame was a great offensive showcase for the Golden Eagles with 7 out of 9 starters notching a hit, 5 of which tallying more than 1 hit. The offense was led by Fillip Smola (5 RBI), Justin Robles (4 RBI) and Nick Wilson (3 RBI) as they each garnered 3 hits apiece.
