BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The University of Charleston's
Drew Hefner is the Mountain East Conference Player of the Week, while teammate
Logan Campbell is the league's Pitcher of the Week.
Hefner, a junior from Bridgeport, W.Va., was 5-for-9 at the plate against No. 9 Ashland over the weekend. He had a hit in all three games of the series, including a pair of two-hit games against the Eagles, and also drew four walks. He finished the week with three RBI and a run scored.
Campbell, a junior from Belding, Mich., picked up a win on the mound against No. 9 Ashland over the weekend. He went 6.1 innings and scattered six hits while striking out 14 in an 8-0 win over the Eagles.
Campbell and Hefner were both key components in the victory on Saturday night. They finished up the weekend going 1-2 to the Eagles and are currently 3-4 overall on the early season.
UC will look for continued production from these two players moving forward as they will be back in action this weekend with a three-game series coming up against the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
