CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- Logan Campbell has been selected as the NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the week for the second time this season.
Campbell, a junior from Belding, Mich., tossed a one-hit, nine-inning shutout in a win over Shippensburg over the weekend. He struck out 18 batters and walked just one. After allowing a walk to the opening batter, Campbell set down 17-straight batters taking the no-hitter into the sixth inning. Shippensburg broke through with a two-out single but could not gain anymore baserunners after that point. Campbell then finished the game retiring 10-straight, including five down on strikes.
With the 3-0 win over Shippensburg, he improved his overall record to 4-0 on the season.
His five-pitch mix was throwing the Shippensburg batters off all game long as he never let the batters feel comfortable at the plate.
His performance ties the national high for strikeouts at the DII level in 2020. He also tied a school record for strikeouts in a single game as he tossed 18 of them in the 3-0 victory.
