ORLANDO, FL – The University of Charleston Men's Tennis team (3-3, 0-0 MEC) picked up their first win of their spring break campaign against Grand Valley State on Tuesday (2-8, 0-0 NEC) by a score of 4-3 at the USTA Campus in Orlando, Florida.
In doubles, The Golden Eagles were able to take the point winning at all three spots after facing multiple match point situations at #1 and #3. The pair of Ben Lakeman and Joao Tayar defeated Dousman and Matou 7-6 while Jason Prince and Bryson Tye took the win from Miller and Rhodes 7-6. The pair of Adam Malouf and Daniel Harms that sealed the doubles win for the Golden Eagles with a 7-6 win over Gessler and Morena-Lucas.
Adam Malouf tell at #5 singles, but the Golden Eagles answered as A. Martinez took a 6-1,6-1 win at #3. Joao Tayar fell 1-6, 4-6 at #2 singles, but the pair of Jason Prince and Ben Lakeman each took wins at #4 and #1to give Charleston the 4-3 victory.
