Box Score Charleston, W.Va- Women's Volleyball battled rival West Virginia State who came in ranked atop the South Division in the Mountain East Conference. With a win the Golden Eagles would share a tie with the Yellow Jackets for first place.

How It Happened
 
As always in matchups between these two rivals, the gym was packed, and the crowd would play a big role in momentum swings throughout the match. The Golden Eagles started off hot in the first set, taking an early 8-3 lead. However, the powerhouse Yellow Jackets would come all the way back to take the lead late in the set, eventually taking it by a score of 25-23.
 
The Yellow Jackets started the second set with a bang, hopping out to an early 9-3 lead and holding the Charleston attack at bay. State did an excellent job in the second set by staying big on the net and not allowing UC to capitalize on any attacking chances. The Yellow Jackets eventually took the set 25-12.
 
The Yellow Jackets took momentum from the second set blowout and came out to an early lead. Although the Golden Eagles showed signs of life in the middle of the set coming all the way back to take a lead at 17-16. The Golden Eagles eventually battled back to a 25-25 tie with the crowd on their side. A controversial call would overturn a point initially given to UC that would have given them a 27-25 victory. However, because of the call State stayed alive and eventually outlasted Charleston 29-27.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will look to get back on track against top ranked Wheeling on Friday, October 15 back in their home arena.
