Women Fall to Bobcats and Falcons on North Division Road Trip

Frostburg, W.Va-  The Golden Eagle Women's Volleyball team competed in two games this weekend against the fourth place Frostburg State and second place Fairmont State.

How it Happened
The girls unfortunately lost in four sets to the Bobcats of Frostburg State. The Golden Eagles, who are currently locked in at third place and have been playing well as of late. However, the Bobcats were able to best the Golden Eagles in four sets on Friday night.
 
Charleston would take the first set and grab some early momentum. However, Frostburg would go on to take the next three sets to upset the Golden Eagles.
 
Some of the highlights for the Golden Eagles:
McKenzie Carpenter lead the Golden Eagles with a .440 hitting percentage, she added 13 kills in the effort. The outside hitter Sage Bearnson lead the Golden Eagles with 15 kills. Madison Jackson added 23 kills to lead Charleston.
 
How it Happened
After the tough loss to the Bobcats the Golden Eagles looked to bounce back against second place Fairmont State. They would put up a good fight taking the match to five sets. However, they couldn't get past the Falcons on Saturday.
 
They would start off hot winning the first set 25-21. The second set would be close as well with the Golden Eagles narrowly being defeated 25-23. Charleston took set three handily by a score of 25-13. Fairmont would battle back and take set four 25-18. In the fifth and final set the Golden Eagles would come to within two points but would ultimately lose 15-12 in the fifth set.
 
Sage Bearnson led UC in hitting percentage and kills tallying 20 kills on a .440 hitting percentage. Ally Fisher had 4 kills to lead Charleston and Maria Hernandez collected 57 assists in the five set marathon.

The ladies return home to face Davis and Elkins on Tuesday, November 2 at 7 p.m.
