CHARLESTON, W. Va. - The University of Charleston Men's Volleyball team picked up their fourth win Saturday afternoon against the Pioneers from Sacred Heart in four sets, winning 3-1. Charleston was led by Ismael Sneed with 11 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Golden Eagles got off to a strong start, playing very even back-and-forth volleyball with the Pioneers through the first half of the opening set, with Charleston taking an advantage late due to a couple service errors from Sacred Heart. The set ended in the Golden Eagles favor, with a score of 25-22.
In the first set, the Golden Eagles had a hitting percentage of .154% while the Pioneers hit .129%. Charleston led the advantage in errors, as they had only five to Sacred Heart's seven.
The second set saw the Golden Eagles take an early lead, converting on the five attacking errors the Pioneers had. Sacred Heart was able to pull closer late, but Charleston continued to push the lead as they went on a 5-2 run to end the set. The Golden Eagles were able to close out the set 25-20, thanks to a service error.
Set three saw the Golden Eagles get out to a quick 7-3 lead before Sacred Heart went on a 5-0 run to tie it at 11. After two back-to-back service errors from Charleston, Sacred Heart was able to push the lead to 21-19. The Pioneers played an inspired third set, having 13 total kills and were able to convert on six errors. Sacred Heart was able to close the out on a 4-0 run and take the set 25-22.
The fourth set started back and forth before Charleston took three straight points making it 12-9. After a service error, and then an ace, the Golden Eagles quickly jumped out to a six point lead and never looked back. They closed out the fourth set 25-17 to pick up their fourth win of the season.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Nicholas Palluzzi led the way for the Pioneers with 13 kills along with eight points, while Teddy Payne had 43 assists. Sneed led the way for the Golden Eagles as he was able to record 11 kills. Villafane had 35 assists in the game along with five digs.

Charleston will return to action next Friday night as they travel to University Park, Pa. to take on Penn State University. Match one time is set for 7:00 P.M at the Rec Hall.
