How it Happened
- With two outs in the first, Mike Flemming put Ashland on the board first, singling to left field off of Charleston starter Austin Henrich.
- In the second, Ashland struck for three more runs with two outs which forced Henrich from the game with Ashland leading 5-0.
- Seth Nightingale came on in relief for the Golden Eagles and was phenomenal through 5.1 innings, allowing just three hits and striking out eight.
- Charleston chipped away in the fifth when Drew Hefner singled to score Mitchell Vincent which was followed by a sacrifice fly by Colby Johnson. Charleston finished their fifth inning with an RBI double from Tyler Dellerman.
- In the sixth, Charleston answered the call and plated three more runs, as Vincent tripled to center field scoring both Pete Costigan and Braxton Boddorf. With the game tied, Bryce Toussaint hit a sacrifice fly which scored Vincent and gave the Golden Eagles their first lead of the game.
- Trailing 6-5 in the ninth, Alex Whipple recorded a three-run triple which would be enough for the Eagles to capture victory.
