- Campbell got into his first jam of the game after walking a pair of runners with one out in the third inning. He got out of the jam after retiring the next two batters he faced.
- Charleston got the offense moving in the bottom of the 4th, as Colby Johnson was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and quickly stole second base. With Tyler Dellerman at the dish, Johnson stole third base and was brought home on sac fly to give Charleston a 1-0 lead.
- Ashland stuck in the top of the 5th when Justin Dyksma homered off of Campbell to tie the game at 1-1.
- Charleston threatened in the bottom of the 5th. After Mitchell Vincent walked to lead off the inning, Eric Chartier singled which put runners on the corners with no outs. After Chartier was caught stealing second, Jordan Bailey brought home Vincent with a double down the left field line to put the Golden Eagles back on top 2-1.
- In the 6th, Charleston continued to put the pressure on, loading the bases with no outs before Ashland turned the ball over to Jake Depperschmidt. On the first pitch he saw, Costigan brought home a run on an RBI single to right field to push the lead to 3-1. Charleston kept the train moving, with Vincent singling home a run just two pitches later. After Chartier walked in a run, Bailey turned over the lineup which would be the end of the day for Depperschmidt. The Golden Eagles would go on to score four runs in the inning.
