Box Score CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston baseball team opened the 2021 season with a 10-3 victory over Salem University on Tuesday afternoon at Segra Field at the Welch Athletic Complex.
Robert Fultineer logged 6.0 innings in his Opening Day start, while
Seth Nightingale (0.2 IP) and
Jacob Kaiser (2.1 IP) rounded out the pitching duties. The Golden Eagles powered for three home runs, one each by
Tyler Dellerman,
James Heavilin, and
Braxton Boddorf. Tuesday marked the third straight win for the Golden Eagles on Opening Day.

- Both starters were dominant on Tuesday, as Ben Mack tossed 4.0 innings for the Tigers, allowing just one run on three hits. Fultineer allowed five hits, with both runs scoring on a two-run home run by Austin Earl. Fultineer would go on to pitch three scoreless innings following the blast.
- Salem would turn to Bailey Bethke in the fifth, where he walked Jordan Bailey and hit Colby Johnson, setting up Hefner for a two-run single.
- Charleston scored seven runs between the 6th and 7th innings, with the Golden Eagles a single shy of the team cycle in the seventh.
