CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston baseball started conference play off on the right foot, with head coach Robbie Britt picking up his first MEC wins at the helm as the Golden Eagles swept Alderson Broaddus on Saturday.

How it Happened (Game One)
- Austin Henrich got the start for the Golden Eagles and lasted just 2.2 innings as he was lifted after working his way into a jam in the third inning. After Austin Dzierwa finished off the third inning, Henrich finished his day being tabbed for four earned runs and four strikeouts while allowing just two hits.
- In the first, it was the Battlers who struck scoreboard first as Taylor Cook homered with a pair of outs to give AB a 1-0 lead.
- In the third, the Battlers plated three more after Tylyn James scored on a wild pitch, Chasen Claus singled home a run, and later scoring on a wild pitch.
- In the third, Bryce Toussant singled home Jordan Bailey which helped the Golden Eagles cut their deficit to just 4-1.
- Dzierwa helped keep the Golden Eagles within striking range, as he finished his day logging 2.1 innings while allowing no hits and no runs while walking and striking out a pair.
- In the 4th, Mitchell Vincent brought home Hayden Cartt on an RBI double which was followed up by an RBI double from Drew Hefner which brought the score to 4-3.
- The game-tying run was plated in the 5th inning when Pete Costigan brought home Toussaint on an RBI single
- Seth Nightingale finished the pitching duties off for the Golden Eagles, as the Redshirt Junior logged 2.0 innings while allowing just one hit.
- Nightingale would pick up the win on the mound after Charleston walked it off in the 7th inning. After the Golden Eagles turned a double play to end the threat from the Battlers in the 7th, Charleston scored the game-winning run after Costigan reached on a fielder's choice which saw Braxton Boddorf out at second, but on the relay throw to first in an attempt to turn a double play, an error resulted in Brayden McCallister to score on the play.

How it Happened (Game Two)
- Colt Webb started the game for the Golden Eagles and looked fantastic through 6.0 innings of work, allowing just one run on five hits while allowing no walks and striking out five.
- The Golden Eagles scored the first six runs of the game, including five in the third to give Charleston early wiggle room.
- In the third, Jordan Bailer tripled home a run which was followed up by RBI singles from Hefner, Heavilin, and Vincent. Charleston plated an additional run in the inning after Bryce Toussaint scored on a groundout from Costigan.
- In the 5th, Costigan once again brought home Toussaint on an RBI groundout to increase the Charleston lead to 6-0.
- The Battlers scored their only run of the game in the 6th inning after Lane Casto singled home Taylor Cook.
- In the bottom of the 6th, Charleston scored two more runs on an RBI from Braxton Boddorf, and a wild pitch which allowed Griffin Adkins to touch the plate.
- In the top of the 7th, Todd Douglas made his Golden Eagle debut, as the freshman went on to throw the final frame allowing just one hit.

Charleston will return to the diamond tomorrow afternoon to take on the Falcons from Notre Dame College in a doubleheader with first pitch set for 1:00 PM.
