CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston baseball team split their weekend series against the Falcons from Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon, winning game one 6-2 while dropping the finale 8-4. Charleston was led Drew Hefner, JR Heavilin, and Pete Costigan on the offensive side, as each player recorded three hits in the doubleheader.

How it Happened (Game One)
- It was the Golden Eagles who would strike first after Costigan singled home Heavilin in the second inning.
- After an error from the first basemen, Braxton Boddorf would find his way to the plate, allowing Costigan to move just 90-feet away from home. Set up perfectly, Hayden Cartt would drive in the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly which brought home Costigan and wrapped up the scoring in the second.
- The Falcons would plate a run after Campbell walked home a run with the bases loaded but the damage would go no further in the third inning.
- In the bottom of the frame, Charleston plated three runs on an RBI double from Costigan to increase the Golden Eagle lead to 6-1.
- The scoring concluded in the fourth inning after Farrell singled home a run which brought the Golden Eagle lead to 6-2.
- Campbell went four innings while allowing two runs on five hits, while walking five and striking out six.
- Seth Nightingale came on in relief and shut the door on the Falcons, finishing up the game while logging 3.0 innings, allowing no runs, no hits, while walking two and striking out four.

How it Happened (Game Two)
- Zane Lattig made his collegiate debut on the mound for the Golden Eagles and was greeted by Ben Ross in the bottom of the first inning, as the shortstop connected on a two-run home run to put the Falcons ahead early.
- The Golden Eagles clawed their way back to tie the game in the bottom of the second after Costigan brought home Boddorf on a sacrifice fly which was followed up by an RBI single from Griffin Adkins which plated Cartt.
- With the score tied at 2-2, the Falcons would go on to put up six runs in the top of the fourth which chases Lattig from the game. Caleb Rush saw 0.1 inning of action and was tabbed for four runs on two hits while walking two and striking out one. Lattig's final line score was 3.0 innings, four runs (all earned) on three hits while walking one and striking out three. Dane Sykes would come on in relief for the Golden Eagles, finishing the game with 3.2 innings pitched, no runs on two hits while walking a pair and striking out four.
- Charleston was able to plate two more runs in the 6th inning after Heavilin scored on a wild pitch and Cartt brought home Costigan on a sacrifice fly.
