CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- The University of Charleston Men's Tennis team opened conference play against Frostburg State with a decisive 7-0 victory.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead by sweeping all three doubles matches. First off the court were Jack Bowman and Mike Phillips with a 6-1 win at 3rd Doubles. Lennert Stevens and Frantisek Pirek secured the doubles point with a 6-1 win at 2nd Doubles.
In singles actions, it was Mike Phillips off the court first again with a 6-0, 6-0 win at 6th singles. Krish Patel added the 3rd point with a convincing win at 4th singles by a score of 6-0, 6-0 . The clinching point was earned by Alex Martinez at #3 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
Man of the match was Mike Phillips who didn't lose a game on the day.
Next up for the men is a home match against WV State on Tuesday, March 23 at 4pm.
