Box Score 4 CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston baseball team swept the weekend, winning a pair of games over Frostburg State on Saturday before defeating the Falcons from Fairmont State in a doubleheader on Sunday. With the wins, the Golden Eagles move to 13-3 overall and now hold a 7-1 record in MEC play, tied for the MEC South lead with West Virginia State.
SATURDAY vs. FROSTBURG STATE:
Game Information (Game One)

How it Happened (Game One)
- It was the Bobcats would strike first, as a sacrifice fly from Andrew Smith brought home Justin Jimenez in the 2nd inning to put the Bobcats ahead 1-0.
- From there, it was the Golden Eagles who produced eight runs over two innings, with their first run being plated in the fourth after Jordan Bailey brought home two runs on a single to put Charleston ahead 2-1.
- In the fourth, the Golden Eagles would score a pair of RBIs on two separate occasions, with Braxton Boddorf and Pete Costigan getting involved in the offense to push Charleston ahead 6-1.
- In the 5th, Boddorf would once against single home a pair of runs to put the Golden Eagles ahead 8-1.
- Mitchell Fyffe brought home Josh Netterville in the bottom half of the fifth to cut the UC lead to 8-2.
- After logging 5.1 innings on the mound, Austin Dzierwa would relieve Campbell, who finished the day allowing just two runs on four hits while walking three and striking out eight.
- In the top of the seventh, already holding a comfortable lead, Tyler Dellerman would score on a balk and Costigan would later bring home Boddorf to hit double digit runs for Charleston, holding a 10-2 lead.
- Dzierwa would finish out the game on the mount, allowing a run to score in the seventh inning and would finish the day logging 1.2 innings of hitless baseball, with the only run he allowed scoring on a double play.

- After Frostburg starter Hayden Ford made it clean through the first, the Golden Eagles tapped for the game-winning run in the 2nd inning after Hayden Cartt brought home Braxton Boddorf on a sacrifice fly to put Charleston ahead 1-0.
- In the third, Charleston tacked on four more runs on Ford's line score and scored a total of four in the inning to take a 5-0 lead.
- In the inning, Drew Hefner brought home Bryce Toussaint on an RBI single, JR Heavilin brought home Hefner on a single, and Mitchell Vincent brought home Heavilin and Tyler Dellerman.
- The scoring was capped off in the 4th inning when Heavilin brought home Dellerman on a single, increasing the Golden Eagle lead to 6-0.
- Colt Webb was phenomenal on the mound, finishing the game with a seven-inning complete game shutout while allowing just two hits. Webb was responsible for three walks and a hit batter but struckout eight in the outing.

MONDAY vs. FAIRMONT STATE:

- The Golden Eagles wasted no time getting the offense moving, as Tyler Dellerman belted his first of three home runs on the day to put Charleston ahead 1-0 I the first.
- The Falcons were able to answer in the bottom half of the inning after PJ Lanham singled home Jacob Goodnight to tie the game at 1-1 off of Charleston starting pitcher Zane Lattig.
- In the 4th inning, Hayden Cartt would come up big with a two-out, two RBI single after a balk moved the runners over into scoring position. On the play, both Mitchell Wincent and Pete Cositgan would come home to score to put Charleston ahead 3-1.
- Lattig would come out to pitch the 5th inning and was tabbed with an additional run after Goodnight scored on a double-steal attempt which had Lanham out at second base.
- Seth Nightingale would come on to pitch the final 2.1 innings for the Golden Eagles. Lattig finished his day logging 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits while walking three and striking out seven.
- Nightingale would shut the door on any attempt of a Falcon comeback, as he went on to allow just one hit and one walk during his appearance while picking up the save.
- Lattig earned the first win of his collegiate on the mound in the 3-2 win.

Charleston 14, Fairmont State 4

- Much like game one, Bryce Toussaint would help the Golden Eagles score the first run of the game on a solo home run off Falcon starter Alex Pane.
- In the second, Mitchell Vincent doubled to left field which scored Pete Costigan to increase the lead to 2-0.
- The scoring in the inning was concluded after Hayden Cartt singled home Vincent to push the Golden Eagles ahead 3-0.
- In the top half of the third, Vincent continued to stay hot after a big three-run home run to put the Golden Eagles ahead 6-0 and end any chance of a Fairmont State comeback.
- The Falcons tacked on their first run of the game off of Charleston starter Austin Henrich when Justin Brown singled home EJ Trickett to cut the Charleston lead to five.
- In the 5th, Tyler Dellerman notched his second home run of the game before Cartt singled home Pete Costigan and Heavilin to make the score 9-1.
- In the 6th inning, the Falcons scored three runs (two charged to Henrich), before Ryan McWilliams came on in relief. McWilliams was tabbed with allowing one run on one hit. Caleb Rush came on in relief and went an innings while allowing one hit.
- In the 7th, Jordan Bailey brought home a pair of runs on an RBI double, Andrew Berry brought a run home on a double, and Tyler Dellerman ended the day where he started it, blasting a two-run home run to cap the scoring and give Charleston a 14-4 lead headed into the bottom half of the seventh.
- Dane Sykes came in and shut the door on the Falcons in the seventh and worked around a hit batsman to lift Charleston to a 14-4 win.

Charleston will be back in action this upcoming weekend, taking on Wheeling (Saturday) and West Liberty (Sunday). Both days are scheduled for a 1:00 PM first pitch.
