CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Lacrosse program (2-3, 1-1 MEC) defeated the Battlers from Alderson Broaddus on Saturday afternoon 16-12, as
Elishia Davis tied the program record for goals in a single-game with eight. Charleston scored three goals in the final 1:07 of the opening half to gain a comfortable lead and carried the momentum into the second half in route to their victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Charleston kicked off the scoring just two and a half minutes into the game after
Gianni Blundell scored the first goal of her career to put Charleston ahead 1-0. The Battlers evened the score just a minute and a half later after Bailey Fedun found the back of the net.
The Battlers would go on to score two of the next three goals, while mixed in was the first of the day for Davis.
After Davis notched her second goal at the 17:09 mark in the first half, the Battlers would score a goal at the 15:37 mark to grab the lead at 4-3. It would be the last lead Alderson Broaddus would hold for the remainder of the game, as the Golden Eagles powered off four straight goals over a four-minute span (two from
Isabelle Pisani and one each from
Mckenna Kincaid and Blundell). Trailing 6-4, the Battlers would score two of the next three goals before the late push from the Golden Eagles to end the half found the home team leading 11-6 at the break.
To open the second half, the Battlers found the net three times in a one-minute span to cut their deficit to just 12-9. With six goals already scored, Davis found the back of the net two times to give Charleston a five-goal lead before the Battlers went on to score two of the last three goals.
