Golden Eagles Drop Game Two on Sunday

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston baseball team fell in their weekend finale against the Fighting Scots from Ohio Valley by a score of 3-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Scots scored the game winning run in the top of the seventh inning with two outs, after Kade Phillips brought home Robert Alonzo with a two-out double off of Jacob Kaiser

  • Ohio Valley plated the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning with two outs to take a 3-2 lead following an RBI double from Kade Phillips.
  • The Fighting Scots allowed just two hits over the final 3.1 innings. Charleston recorded two base hits to begin the bottom of the sixth inning but failed to push a run across.
How it Happened
  • The Fighting Scots got on the board in the second inning after Juan Lopez plated a pair of runs to push OVU ahead early, 2-0.
  • Charleston answered back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring a pair of runs. After Mitchell Vincent connected on an RBI single, Braxton Boddorf then singled to bring home Vincent and tie the game at 2-2.
  • The Scots scored the game winning run in the top of the seventh inning with two outs, after Kade Phillips brought home Robert Alonzo with a two-out double off of Kaiser.
