ELKINS, W. Va. – The University of Charleston baseball split their Sunday doubleheader with the Senators from Davis & Elkins. The Golden Eagles went for 11 runs on 16 hits in game one before being held to just six hits in game two. Hayden Cartt recorded five hits on the day, including a two-run home run in game one to pace the offense for the Golden Eagles

How it Happened
- Much like the first two games of the series, the Golden Eagles jumped on the board in the first inning as Tyler Dellerman drove home Drew Hefner on an RBI single
- Giving Charleston starting pitcher Austin Henrich some run support, the Golden Eagles plated three more in the second after Hayden Cartt doubled home a pair which was then followed up by an RBI single from Bryce Toussaint which scored Cartt to make the score 4-0.
- The Senators got on the board in the third inning after Henrich surrendered a solo home run to Chase Degrood which cut the Charleston lead to 4-1.
- In the 4th and 5th innings, the Golden Eagles powered for four more runs on an RBI single from Hefner, a two-RBI double from Dellerman, and an RBI-double from Mitchell Vincent which brought the score to 8-1.
- Henrich's day ended after 5.0 innings as he allowed just one run on three hits while walking one and striking out eight.
- Robert Fultineer would come on in relief and go on to allow just one run on one hit while striking out three.
- In the bottom of the 6th, the Senators scored their final run of the game before Charleston plated three in the top of the 7th. After Pete Costigan brought home Braxton Boddorf on a sacrifice fly, Cartt recorded his third and fourth RBI's of the day on a two-run home run to cap the scoring and give UC an 11-2 victory.

How it Happened
- Charleston got on the board first one again, this time in the third inning after Toussaint brought home Cartt on a sacrifice fly to put Charleston ahead 1-0.
- In the bottom of the 4th, the Senators took control of the game, plating five runs between Charleston starting pitcher Dane Sykes and relief pitcher Seth Nightingale.
- Sykes' finished the day after 3.1 IP, allowing two runs on two hits while walking five and striking out two.
- Nightingale finished the 4th inning for Charleston, allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits while walking three and striking out a pair.
- The Golden Eagles got back on the board in the 5th inning after Hefner brought home a pair of runs on an RBI single which cut the UC deficit to 5-3.
- Fultineer came on to pitch the 5th and allowed one hit and a walk before being relieved by Freddie Reams.
- Making his Charleston debut, Reams allowed two runs (both unearned) on one hit and a walk while striking out three over 1.2 IP.
- In the bottom of the 5th, the Senators got back what they gave up, scoring a pair to widen the lead to 7-3.
- Charleston threatened in the top half of the 6th, cutting their deficit to just one run after Colby Johnson doubled home a pair of runs and later scored.
- Headed into the 7th, the Senators plated two runs to take a 9-6 lead. Despite threatening with a pair of runners on in the top of the seventh, Carlos Vizcaya was able to work out of a jam for the Senators who claimed the 9-6 win.

Charleston will return home next weekend to take on the Pioneers from Glenville State in a pair of doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday. First pitch on both days is set for 1:00 PM.
