CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- The University of Charleston Men's Tennis program moved to 7-2 on the year as they notched another dominant victory over regionally ranked #6, Salem University.

The Golden Eagles once again claimed the doubles point with wins from the number one and number three partnerships. Krish Patel and Jake Magill continued their fine doubles form with a swift 6-3 victory at number three. Frantisek Pirek and Lennert Stevens then dropped a tight number two doubles 6-4, leaving the doubles point up for grabs at the number one spot. John Giesberts and Drew Dagostine combined to put in a strong performance and clinch the first point of the afternoon with a 6-4 win.

Holding the lead, the Golden Eagles benefitted from taking the doubles point, as the starting six raced out to a fast start in singles play, taking dominant first sets in positions 1-5. Frantisek Pirek continued the pressure as he dominated throughout, winning 6-1, 6-1 at the number three position. Shortly behind Pirek, Jake Magill crossed the finish line with a 6-3, 6-1 win. The fourth, and match clinching point once again came from the freshman Krish Patel. Patel claimed victory in the number five position 6-2, 6-4.

With the match secured by the freshman trio of Pirek, Magill and Patel; John Giesberts was next to cross the line with a high quality 6-4 7-6 victory in the number one position. Draw Dagostine added the sixth point for UC, winning a great battle at number two, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2. Alejandro Martinez battled at number six for UC, but fell short 2-6, 6-1, 2-6.

The Golden Eagles will return to MEC play as they take on West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins in two matches next weekend.
