CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Men's Tennis team moved on to the MEC Championship with a 4-0 win over West Liberty on Saturday afternoon. After clinching the 4^th point, the match was concluded as the top two seeds in the tournament moved on to the Sunday finale where they will play West Virginia Wesleyan.
 
The Golden Eagles clinched the doubles point over the Hilltoppers as both the #1 pairing of John Giesberts/Drew Dagostine (6-2) as well as the #3 pairing of Jake Magill/Krish Patel (6-1) defeated their opponents swiftly. The #2 pairing of Lennert Stevents/Frantisek Pirek did not finish their match, and were trailing 4-2 at the time of point-clinch.
 
Moving to singles with a 1-0 lead in the match, the Golden Eagles got to work and clinched the match with three wins (#1, #5, and #6). Krish Patel was the first off the court for the Golden Eagles after picking up a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory at #5 singles. Giesberts followed suit with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at #1 singles before Alex Martinez clinched the match after defeating his opponent at #6 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
 
For the remainder of the Golden Eagles, Dagostine and Magill were well on their way to clinching wins, and Pirek was tied after two sets at #3 singles.
