BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Three teams from the North Division and three teams from the South Division will vie for the Mountain East Conference title at this week's tournament at Epling Stadium in Beckley, W.Va.
Wheeling, winners of the North Division, will be making its first-ever appearance at the MEC Tournament. West Liberty and Alderson Broaddus also qualified for the postseason out of the North Division.
West Virginia State and Charleston shared the South Division title, with the Yellow Jackets holding the tiebreaker for seeding purposes in the tournament. Concord clinched a spot on the final day of the regular season.
Play begins on Thursday with West Virginia State against Alderson Broaddus (noon), Wheeling vs. Concord (3:30 p.m.) and Charleston against West Liberty.
In their two matchups this season (April 3), the Golden Eagles defeated the 10-1 and 9-0, stealing 15 bases on the afternoon. Charleston has defeated the Hilltoppers in each of their last six contests dating back to 2018, with the Hilltoppers winning the previous 16 games prior to that.
