DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Charleston Baseball team was back in action on Friday, dropping their first of a three-game set to Division-I Wright State at Nischwitz Stadium by a score of 6-2. The Golden Eagles added games this weekend prior to awaiting the results of the NCAA Division II Selection Show which will take place on Sunday at 10:00 PM EST. On Friday, the Golden Eagles were led by Robert Fultineer on the mound, who went 3.1 innings in relief of Logan Campbell, allowing just two hits. Campbell became the single-season strikeout leader during the outing, passing current teammate Austin Henrich who held the record of 87 in 2019.

How it Happened
- Charleston pushed for an early run in the first, giving starting pitcher Logan Campbell some quick support after Tyler Dellerman singled home Colby Johnson.
- After pitching a pair of scoreless innings, Campbell was tabbed for four (three earned) in the third after Sammy Sass reached on a fielding error by Braxton Boddorf which brought home Quincy Hamilton for the Raider's first run of the game.
- Later in the inning, a passed ball from Drew Hefner gave the Raiders their first lead of the game, one they wouldn't give up.
- The final two runs of the inning were scored after Zane Harris brought home a pair on an RBI-double which increased the Wright State lead to 4-1.
- Charleston remained competitive, as Robert Fultineer came on in relief for Campbell, who finished the day logging 3.2 IP, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits while walking five and striking out five.
- In the 5th, Jesse Elliott brought home Hayden Cartt on a sacrifice fly to cut the Raider lead to 4-2.
- Seth Nighingale came on in relief of Fultineer, facing just two batters before Robby Shepherd came on in relief to finish the eighth. Inheriting a pair of runners, Shepherd allowed a single which fell between third and left field, bringing home a pair of runs to increase the Raider lead to 6-2, one that would stand.
