How it Happened
  • The Golden Eagles plated their second first inning run in the series after Braxton Boddorf brought home Tyler Dellerman on a single through the right side.
  • After working a clean first inning, Charleston starting pitcher Zane Lattig was tabbed for his first run of the game in the second after Sass connected on a 2-0 pitch for his first long ball of the contest.
  • Three straight hits for the Raiders following the home run increased their lead to 3-1 before two extra base hits and a pair of sacrifice flies increased the lead to 5-1 and chased Lattig from the game.
  • In relief, Robby Shepherd made his second appearance of the weekend and allowed three runs on two hits, including another home run from Sass to give the Raiders an 8-1 lead headed into the third.
  • In the 4th, the Raiders added a pair after scoring on a wild pitch, along with Sass' third homer of the contest.
  • Shepherd finished his day after 2.0 IP, allowing five runs (all earned) on three hits while walking a pair.
  • Freddie Reams came on in relief for Shepherd, going 0.2 innings while allowing just two walks while striking out one.
  • In the 5th, Johnson put UC back on the board after connecting on a full count pitch which sailed over the left field wall.
  • Owen MacNeil came on to pitch for Charleston with an out in the 5th and went on to pitch a respectable 2.2 innings where he allowed just one run on one hit while walking one and striking out five. The one run allowed came on a double which plated the final run for the Raiders.
  • Hayden Cartt jumped on board in the 8th after connecting on a line drive home run over the left field fence which cut the Raider lead to 12-3, the final score.
  • Seth Nighingale came on to pitch the bottom half of the eighth inning, as the senior worked a clean inning in his second appearance on the weekend.
