CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Baseball team has moved on to the 7 PM game on Saturday evening against Millersville in the 2021 Division II Atlantic Regional with a 14-8 victory over Bloomsburg at 3:00 PM. The Golden Eagles avenged their Thursday loss by producing twenty hits, while taking advantage of three Husky errors.
Hayden Cartt paced the Golden Eagles offensively, going 4-for-5 in the contest and was a triple shy of the cycle. His 5
th inning grand slam gave the Golden Eagles a 7-2 lead, with Charleston never looking back. In the contest, both Braxton Boddorf and Drew Hefner both recorded four hits a piece.

How it Happened
- The Golden Eagles plated an early run for Charleston starting pitcher Colt Webb after Bryce Toussaint singled home Colby Johnson in the first inning to give the visitors an early lead.
- With a pair of outs in the third and the bases loaded, the Huskies plated a pair on a single to left field from Gianni Sinatore which gave Bloomsburg the 2-1 advantage.
- Charleston evened the score at 2-2 in their next at bat, as Johnson did the job and brought home Cartt on a sacrifice fly.
- In the 5th, Tyler Dellerman launced a a 1-0 pitch intor right field which cleared the fence, giving Charleston a 3-2 lead to lead off the inning. Charleston went on to score seven runs on seven hits in the inning, taking a 9-2 advantage which included a grand slam from Cartt.
- In the bottom half of the inning, Webb found himself in a jam and was relieved by Owen MacNeil after loading the bases with one out. After MacNeil retired the next batter, back-to-back hits from the Huskies brought home four runs which brought the score to 9-6. Webb finished the afternoon pitching 4.1 innings, allowing five runs (all earned) on three hits while walking five and striking out three.
- Charleston added insurance in the seventh after Pete Costigan brought home Cartt on a single to center field, increasing the lead to 10-6.
- After allowing a pair of doubles and a run in the bottom half of the inning, Jacob Kaiser came on to relieve MacNeil who finished with a final line of 2.0 IP, allowing three runs (all earned) on five hits while striking out one.
- After allowing two runs in the seventh, Kaiser worked himself into a save opportunity as the score was brought to 10-8.
- Charleston would go on to score four more runs in the eighth, while Kaiser worked a quality final two frames. Mitchell Vincent doubled home a pair, while Cartt and Jesse Elliott both brought home runs on hits.
- Kaiser finished the game logging 2.2 innings in relief, allowing no runs on two hits while walking two and striking out a pair.

Charleston will play Millersville in the nightcap of Saturday, with the winner having the opportunity to compete on Championship Sunday. The winner will need to win a pair of games over top-seeded Seton Hill to claim the Atlantic Region crown.
