TOURNAMENT CENTRAL: Charleston Hosts Men's & Women's Atlantic Regional for Tennis

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston will host the NCAA Atlantic Regional for Men's and Women's Tennis, on May 8-11, at the Schoenbaum Tennis Courts. The tournament will feature five teams on the women's side and four teams on the men's side.
 
Atlantic Regional (Men's Tennis)
 
The tournament will feature #1 seed and MEC Champions, University of Charleston (12-2), who will take on the #4 seeded Bobcats from West Virginia Wesleyan (7-5) to kick off the weekend at 1:00 PM. The two teams met just a week ago in the MEC Championship, where Charleston took home the crown, as well as the AQ with a 4-1 victory. The match will be followed by the #2/#3 matchup between Bluefield State (7-3) and the Fighting Scots from Edinboro. The Big Blue met Edinboro in the 2015 Atlantic Regional, where Bluefield State came out on top 5-0.
 
The winners from the #1/#4 and #2/#3 matchup will meet on Sunday, where a winner will be crowned and advanced to the Division II NCAA Men's Tennis Championship held in Surprise, Arizona on May 18-20.

Atlantic Regional (Women's Tennis)
 
The tournament will feature five teams from across the Atlantic Region. MEC Champions and #1 seed, University of Charleston (14-3) will take on the winner of the #4/#5 matchup between West Virginia State (9-4) and first-time NCAA participant, Bluefield State (6-5). The #4/#5 play-in match will take place on Sunday following the Men's Championship and Charleston will take on the winner of that match on Monday at 11:00 AM.
 
For the remainder of the field, #2 seed Indiana University of Pennsylvania (13-3), who captured the PSAC Championship and will make their 13th NCAA appearance since 2002, will take on the #3 seeded Rock from Slippery Rock University (8-6). Dating back to 2006, Slippery Rock has qualified for the NCAA Tournament 12 out of a possible 14 seasons.
 
The two winners will meet on May 11th at 11:00 AM where a winner will be crowned and advance to the Division II NCAA Women's Tennis Championships held in Surprise, Arizona on May 19-21.
