CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Golden Eagles looked to keep the momentum alive in conference play as they took on the Falcons from Fairmont State. The Golden Eagles would do just that, sweeping the match in straight sets. UC improved their record to 24-3 overall and 11-1 in conference play, while Fairmont State fell to 23-4 and 9-3 in conference play.

How It Happened
The first set started out pretty evenly as the teams traded the first 18 points. After this, UC was able to gain a little momentum, as they went on a 9-3 run to take an 18-12 lead in the set on a kill from McKenzie Damon. Fairmont State would try to battle back into the set, but the Golden Eagles would take the set 25-18 on a service ace by Sage Bearnson.
The second set was much different from the first, as the Golden Eagles would go on a 13-2 run. The scoring run was capped off by a Fairmont State attack error. Fairmont and UC would essentially trade points the rest of the set and UC eventually took the set 25-16 on a kill by Bearnson.
The Golden Eagles took over once again, as UC jumped out to a 7-3 lead with multiple kills from Pia Selke. This gap would hold firm for the majority of the set with the closest Fairmont State coming, being 2 points at 14-12. A kill from Selke gave UC the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
Charleston's offense was led by Selke (11 kills), Damon (9 kills), and McKenzie Carpenter (8 kills), respectively. Maria Hernandez continued her dominant season racking up another double-double with 35 assists and 17 digs. Reagan McLean is another Golden Eagle having a tremendous year. McLean came into the weekend ranked third in the country in both blocks per set and total blocks. McLean added five blocks in the match tonight bringing her season total to 114.0.

UC will look to keep their win streak alive as the Golden Eagles battle the Davis & Elkins Senators on Tuesday in Elkins, WV. Davis & Elkins comes in at 14-9 overall and 7-4 in league play. The Senators currently hold the third spot in the MEC South Division. First serve is slated for 7PM.
