Charleston 6 Barton 1
For the first time this season, the women's tennis team lost the doubles point. The ladies came out slow in doubles but were able to overcome the slow start by winning all the singles points.
Losing the doubles point, turned out to be a quite the motivator for the players. Alyssa Cameron evened the score at 1-1 followed quickly Prinkle Singh and Sofiia Krasikova put the Golden Eagles up 3-1. It was Barbara Balancho who provided the clinch point with a win at number 6 singles. Sara Martinez and Filippa Larsson rounded out the singles sweep at fifth and third singles respectively.
Following the match, coach Alec Foote said "We were very flat in doubles, and didn't bring the intensity that we usual do, but I'm very happy that we were able turn up the intensity and turn it around for the singles sweep."
Player of the match goes to Prinkle Singh who dropped a total of 3 games on the day.
Men
Charleston 5 Barton 2
It was a tough test for the Golden Eagles today as they faced up against a top 25 team from last year.
For the third match in a row, Charleston won the doubles point to open the match. The duo of Stevens and Rawson remained unbeaten at 1st doubles in dual matches.
Perez (#1), Rawson (#2), Patel (#4) and Pinto (#5) each notched straight set wins in singles.
Man of the match goes to Jowan Rawson who dripped a mere 4 games on the day.
Following the match Assistant Coach, John Giesberts, said "It's a great feeling going into every match knowing that we can win the doubles point. These guys take a lot of pride in their doubles play. "
