CHARLESTON, W.Va - The Golden Eagles were able to continue their winning ways on Friday night as they defeated the Glenville State Pioneers 3-1. Charleston improved to 26-3 and 13-1 in league play, while Glenville State fell to 14-16 and 3-11 in MEC play.

How It Happened
The first set got off to a fairly even start as the teams traded the first 14 points. Glenville State went on a 7-2 run, but the Golden Eagles battled back to tie the score at 14 on a Sage Bearnson service ace. After UC took a 19-16 lead, the Pioneers would come back to tie the score at 20. With a .333 hitting percentage in the first set, Glenville State won 25-23.
The Golden Eagles looked to flip the script in the second set of the match as they took a 6-2 lead on a service ace by Pia Selke. The Golden Eagles would dominate the rest of the set and went on to win the set 25-13. The final point came on a kill from McKenzie Damon. UC had their highest hitting percentage of .448 with 15 kills in the second set.
The third set had the same storyline, as the Golden Eagles jumped out to a lead, taking a 5-1 lead on a kill from Selke. UC would win the set 25-16 on a service ace from Morgan Walter. After trading the first 10 points in the fourth set, the Golden Eagles would take the lead for good on a Pioneer service error. Charleston would go on to win the set 25-13 on a Selke kill and take the match 3-1.
The Golden Eagles were led offensively by Bearnson and Selke with 12 kills each. Reagan McLean also got into double-digits with 11 kills. Maria Hernandez dished out 39 assists, and Damon led the way defensively with 18 digs.
