PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles looked to bounce back from their first conference loss of the season as they traveled to Philippi, West Virginia to take on Alderson Broaddus University. The Battlers came into the matchup 6-9 overall and 0-5 in conference play. UC came in at 17-3, and 4-1 in conference play.

How It Happened
Compared to other conference matchups this season, the University of Charleston was not able to get off to their usual quick start in the first set. As Alderson Broaddus led 11-10, the Battlers would go on a 9 to 4 run. The Golden Eagles would fight back into the first set but would drop the set 25-23.
The second set was another tightly contested one as the score would be knotted at 20 before the Golden Eagles would go on a 5-3 run to win the set. The final point came on a kill by

UC would take the momentum from winning the second set and jump out to an 8-3 lead in the third set. Charleston continued their dominance and went on to take the set win 25-12 on an attack error by a Battler.
The Golden Eagles dominated the fourth set with a 5-2 lead before the Battlers would respond to take a 7-5 lead. UC would then go on a 13-6 run to take a 20-11 lead in the set. The Golden Eagles would go on to win the set 25-12 on another attack error by Alderson Broaddus.
Charleston was offensively led by
McLean and
Pia Selke with 8 kills each.
Maria Hernandez dished out 26 assists and also led the way defensively with 12 digs to complete the double double.
