ATHENS, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles picked up their first road win of the season against the Concord Mountain Lions in the Carter Center Gym on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
In their first conference matchup of the season, the Golden Eagles were pitted against the MEC's second best rebounding team in the Concord Mountain Lions. The Golden Eagles did a good job of matching the Mountain Lions efforts in the paint throughout the first half as they were even in points in the paint at halftime, as well as holding a slight edge in rebounding at 21-20.
After a competitive opening sequence, UC would go on to take a 17-8 lead, after a three-pointer by
Deng Nhial with 12:25 remaining in the first half. A
Keaton Turner three-pointer would later add to that lead and give Charleston their biggest advantage of the game leading 29-18 with 6:30 seconds left in the first half.
Charleston headed into the break leading the Mountain Lions 38-32.
Concord would challenge Charleston's advantage early in the second half as the lead would be cut to three.
The Mountain Lions attempted to take the lead, getting the game within one point. However, the Golden Eagles would respond with a 14-5 run which helped to extend their lead back up to 10 points.
Jeremiah Keene sealed Charleston's victory by sinking two clutch free throws and grabbing two defensive rebounds to end the game.
The Golden Eagles shined from the field with nearly a 50% shooting percentage alongside their 84.2% from the line. As a team, UC tallied 38 rebounds total and finished the game with 46 points in the paint.
Eddie Colbert III had 10 rebounds the entire game, while
Keith Williams added six rebounds of his own, both contributing 15 points.
Tyler Eberhart had a solid performance with 17 points and 4 rebounds.
Eberhart went 2-for-2 from the free throw line and 7-for-9 from the field.
The bench played a key factor in the squad's win, as they contributed 23 total points.
Keaton Turner had double digit points, while also tallying two rebounds and three assists.
