How it Happened
The Charleston men's tennis team opened up its Spring season with a convincing 6-1 road victory over the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters. The Golden Eagles won the doubles point behind the play of the nationally ranked first doubles pair of John Giesberts and Marshall Dagostine 6-1. The doubles teams of Daniel Llorente / Krish Patel and Lennert Stevens/ Jowan Rawson each won by a score of 6-3.
In singles, the guys competed very well taking victories at 1, 3, and 5 by Llorente, Dagostine and Rawson respectively. It was Marshall Dagostine who provide the clinching point for the Golden Eagles. After winning the first set, he lost a tough second set in a tie-breaker. A match tie-breaker was played in lieu of a full third set which Dagostine won 11-9. Rounding out the remainder of the singles wins were Gieberts at number 2 and Stevens at number 4.
The man of the match award goes Lennert Stevens and Jowan Rawson. They each dropped a mere 8 games on the day. The team extends its win streak to 3-0.
