Golden Eagles Fly over Pioneers 5-2

Harrogate, TN - Men's Tennis finishes off the weekend with a 5-2 win over Nationally Ranked Tusculum University.

The Basics:

How it Happened:
The men's tennis team extended its win streak to 4-0 with a convincing win over the Tusculum Pioneers. The Goldens Eagle grabbed the doubles point with a clean sweep for the 3rd time this season. The order of finish was Daniell Llorente and Krish Patel, winning 6-4. Jowan Rawson and Lennert Stevens, winning 6-3. John Giesberts and Drew Dagostine, winning 7-6 with a tie-breaker score of 12-10.

Playing on 3 courts, Llorente, Dagostine and Stevens took the court first. Dagostine was fantastic in his 6-4, 6-4 win at 3rd singles, running the match score to 2-0. Stevens lost a tough match 7-6, 6-4. Daniel Llorente battled for every point in a long match with long points. He won the first set 6-4 and dropped the second set 7-6. His fitness paid off in the end as his opponent retired with Llorente leading 5-0 in the third set. This put the Golden Eagles up 3-1.

After Llorente's win, all eyes were on Krish Patel at number 4 singles. In the first set each player held serve on every serve, forcing a tie-breaker. Patel rose to the occasion and won the tie-breaker 7-0. At 4-3 in the second set, Patel broke serve for the first time. Now leading 5-3, Patel served out the match for a final score of 7-6, 6-3. This secured the victory for the Golden Eagles. With the match already decided, Giesberts lost at second singles and Jowan Rawson won at 6th singles.

Man of the match goes to Drew Dagostine, who provide the much-needed momentum from doubles into singles and the first singles point.
