Charleston, W. Va - The University of Charleston Men's Volleyball team hosted the Fort Valley State University Wildcats on Friday night. The Golden Eagles dominated the Wildcats and took the first match in straight sets.

How It Happened Match 1

The first set started with some back-and-forth action between the two teams before the Golden Eagles broke away from the Wildcats and took the first set by a score of 25 – 15.  UC closed out the set with a huge kill by Garret Schnitker.

The second set started similarly to the end of the first set, with a UC kill by Jake Vorburger. The Golden Eagles poured it onto the Wildcats this set with a .917 hitting percentage. UC took the second set by a score of 25 – 8.

The third and final set began with one of Ismael Sneed's eight kills of the match. Sneed and Jake Vorburger led UC with 8 kills on the night. The Wildcats put up a fight towards the end of the set, but the Golden Eagles flew to victory by a score of 25 -18. Â

How It Happened Match 2

The Sunday matchup, between the University of Charleston and Fort Valley State University saw similar results to the matchup versus the Wildcats on Saturday. The Golden Eagles took all three sets and swept the series.

In the first set the Golden Eagles were led by Jake Vorbuger, who had 3 kills and 2 service aces during the set. Charleston cruised to a win in the opening set by a score of 25 -13, after a final kill by Arthur Sueur.

During the second set, the Wildcats hung with the Golden Eagles, till a big kill by Ismael Sneed at 12 – 11 turned the set around for UC. Charleston closed the set out by winning 8 of the last 10 points by a score of 25 -15.

The Golden Eagles dominated the third and final set by a score of 25 – 9. Charleston's Nathan Cartier and Arhtur Sueur delivered some key hits for UC before Sueuer finished off the set with a kill. Both Cartier and Sueur led the Golden Eagles in kills, with 8.
