HUNTINGTON, W.Va- The University of Charleston Track and Field is headed to Huntington to compete in the Mountain East Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
 
Notes:
 
  • The Golden Eagles Men's Team is currently ranked 1st in the MEC and 2nd in the Atlantic Region
  • The Golden Eagles Women's Team is currently ranked 1st  in the MEC and 3rd in the Atlantic Region.
  • Warren Thiel is top 25 in the NCAA in the 800m at 22nd.
  • Elise Leveel is the current MEC runner of the week and is ranked 24th in NCAA for the 5k.
 
Who to Watch Men:
  • Distance Runners: Warren Thiel (Provo Qualifier) , David Cecchi, Thomas Termote (Provo Qualifier), Casey Ellis, and Matthew Forrester
  • Springs: Colin Hunkele, Timber Huysmans, Daniel Mullenax
  • Throws: Kellen Tropeck
  • Jumps: Kevin Olivas
 
Who to Watch Women:
  • Distance: Elise Leveel, Lily Dowdell, Lia Makert
  • Jumps: Miriam Dreher
  • Sprints: Even Hine, Louanne Pouzancre

  • Men's High Jump: Malik Chatman

Nick Bias had this to say regarding the coaching staff, "Our coaching staff has did a tremendous job this season with our specialty groups and we are just really looking forward to competing this weekend for MEC Championships."
 
 
UC's winningest head coach also had some words preceding the competition:
 
"We are excited for our indoor championships as we always put a big emphasis into preparing to win as a team.  One of our mottos is "Championship Mentality" and we really try to practice championship behaviors daily in our preparations so that we have that Championship Mentality when the times come to compete"
