Charleston Dominates at The Golden Eagle Invitational

Charleston, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Track & Field teams delivered a dominant performance at the Golden Eagle Invitational, celebrating Senior Day in style by setting multiple school records and sweeping both team titles.

The men's team racked up 234 points, while the women's squad put up an impressive 298 points to cap off a memorable meet.

Men's Results

·      100 Meters:

Evan Daniels (10.71), Roberto Agrizzi (10.79), and Massimo Pantano (10.81) secured the top three finishes.

·      200 Meters:

Tim Gutzeit took first with a time of 21.97, followed by Zachary Parsons (22.14) and Roberto Agrizzi (22.22).

·      400 Meters:

Millar McElrea (50.70) and Carlos Gomez (51.31) finished first and second, respectively.

·      800 Meters:

Matthew O'Shea earned second place with a time of 1:57.30.

·      1500 Meters:

Collin Brooks placed third in 3:56.88.

·      5000 Meters:

Charleston swept the event with Cosmas Chelanga (14:44.59), Corey Schobelock (15:04.72), and Zane Chalker (15:08.34) taking the top three spots.

·      110 Hurdles:

Roberto Agrizzi won the race with a time of 14.49.

·      400 Hurdles:

James Shamblin placed second at 57.36.

·      4 x 100 Relay:

Zachary Parsons, Evan Daniels, Roberto Agrizzi, and Massimo Pantano clocked in at 41.01, setting a new school record.

·      4 x 400 Relay:

Hugo Hewitt, Jules Geffroy-Remot, Oscar Rayner, and Brady Miller finished second with a time of 3:39.75.

Field Events

·      High Jump:

Cameron Tropeck placed second with a 1.80m jump.

·      Pole Vault:

Blake Stanton cleared 3.20m for second place.

·      Triple Jump:

Devon English earned second with a mark of 12.43m.

·      Shot Put:

Frankie Winter threw 15.60m to take second.

·      Discus:

Julian Matthews placed second with 45.16m.

·      Hammer:

Charleston claimed the top two spots—Frankie Winter threw 56.87m, and Julian Matthews followed with 54.94m.

 

Women's Results

·      100 Meters

Colette Patti ran 11.74 to take first, setting a new school record and NCAA provisional mark. Laura Delgado de Torres placed third in 12.73.

·      200 Meters:

Alexandra Pekic finished second with a time of 25.92.

·      400 Meters:

Maya Clark won the race in 55.75, followed by Erica Davis in 1:01.12.

·      800 Meters:

Charleston dominated the event, taking the top four spots:

·       Marina Barahona – 2:17.65

·       Madison Woolwine – 2:19.12

·       Amanda Ferrante – 2:19.23

·       Abbey Bolton – 2:19.58

·      1500 Meters:

Amanda Ferrante took second with a time of 4:53.11.

·      10,000 Meters:

Mercy Jepleting secured the win with a time of 41:34.45.

·      100 Hurdles:

Charleston swept the event with Laura Delgado de Torres (15.34), Minke Engelbrecht (16.16), and Payton Krafchek (16.88).

·      400 Hurdles:

Camila Hoya won the race in 1:08.45. Stefani Vasileva placed third at 1:14.78.

·      3000 Steeplechase:

Amanda Brent took first with a time of 13:40.14.

·      4 x 100 Relay:

Kayla Lemkus, Stefani Vasileva, Camila Hoya, and Domenica Cruz placed second in 51.75.

·      4 x 400 Relay:

The quartet of Maya Clark, Alexandra Pekic, Camila Hoya, and Marina Barahona won in 4:02.45. The team of Erica Davis, Dasheya Booker, Abbey Bolton, and Nadia Calore followed with 4:21.81.

Field Events

·      Long Jump:

·      Triple Jump:

Stefani Vasileva led with 11.58m, followed by Kayla Lemkus at 10.67m.

·      Shot Put:

Abby McKinney won with 12.62m. Brooke Burns (11.69m) and Ella Nilsson (11.68m) rounded out the top four.

·      Discus:

Brooke Burns set a new school record and NCAA provisional mark with a 47.35m throw.

·      Hammer:

Burns also won the hammer throw with 58.50m.
